Hi /r/cars, I am very very interested in purchasing the new Corvette C7 next year. The performance, style, and new interior finally got me. The initial price of the car:
52,000 + 8000(Luxury Interior) + 2800(Z51 sports package) = $62,800
One body shop has refused to even paint my car because he said that the paint will start to bubble on a corvette and he can't guarantee his work. You need to find a better shop, QUICK!:) Mine is 15 yrs old and no bubbles (crosses fingers). Maybe yours had an old repair and thats the bubbling, is it all over?
With tax it will be close to $70,000. Let's say $74-75,000 if I decide to go for the convertible.
While that is a lot of money, I am willing to accept the price. However, what I don't know is the cost to care/maintain the car. All I've driven so far are 10+ year old beat up Japanese cars with cheap maintenance.
Main questions would be how much for regular maintenance, repairs, gas, etc. Whats the insurance going to be like? I have no clue what the real world numbers will be, or how much it will eat into my budget.
I have about 2000 cash after food and rent each month and have some money saved up.
edit The 2000 is after my usual amount of spending for shopping, gym, friends, etc (i.e. money I wasn't going to use for other stuff and would have saved)
edit 2 sorry for being unclear, I plan to pay at least 50-70% money down, less than 1% APR, and increase my disposable income up to 3000 if need be. I am only wondering about the maintenance cost for high end cars as I really have no experience with them.
Do you guys think this is doable if I can afford the initial cost or am I stretching it too thin?
